Tamarind Vietnamese Grill & Noodle House is located at 106 - 1111 6th Ave SW in Calgary, Alberta and is the only fully vegan Vietnamese restaurant we have ever been to, or know about.
This little gem of a restaurant used to be a traditional Vietnamese restaurant but one day the owner decided she no longer wanted to serve meat, based on her own beliefs. At first her family did not want her to make the switch, thinking it would ruin the restaurant; however, what happened was quite the opposite. This small little place is always busy catering to the growing vegan and vegetarian community, and even people who just appreciate great tasting food.
We tried three different dishes and will review one each week for you. This week starts with the Crispy Spring Rolls, which we feel are the best veggie spring rolls we have ever tasted! Seriously, these golden beauties are made with tofu, veggies, bean thread noodles, mung bean, taro root, and onion wrapped in crispy wheat wrapper or rice paper wrapper for a gluten-free option.
The delicious dipping sauce is made without fish sauce, which makes it so good! The perfect addition to an already perfect dish.

Why you want this dish:
1. These spring rolls are made with all vegan ingredients, including non-GMO home made tofu
2. They are cooked to perfection and crispy
3. They are a good price of $7.50
4. They are the perfect appetizer to a delicious traditional Vietnamese dinner
5. They are honestly the best either of us have ever tasted
Until the next quest for the best...
