Have you ever been drinking a green drink, or perhaps one that looks like swamp water, and your colleague, or friend, turns to you and says, "what is that crap you're drinking?" Well, we have and we LOVE that question! Half the time I think we make our drinks as green and gross looking as possible just so we can tell people what it is we are drinking!

We are not sure why but the colour green, when it comes to food and drinks green seems to freak people right out! The funny thing is don't you just love it when the leaves and the grass turns green in the summer? They turn green because green is the colour of detoxing and cleansing. The leaves on the trees, and the grass, turn green in the summer because their purpose is to clean the air. Cool, right?

After learning about how powerful green foods are you will want to drink, and eat them, a lot more. Here are some reasons why you will want to boost up your green foods (and drinks):

1) Boost energy

2) Reduce inflammation

3) Clear out heavy metals

4) Provide the body with healing nutrients

5) Can help prevent and manage chronic diseases like high blood pressure and more.

6) Reduce oxidative stress

It is very important that all greens are organic and non-GMO so that you get all the nutrition and non of the toxins.

Our favourite greens include:

1) Liquid chlorohyll - Chlorophyll is the blood of plants. It's what makes them green. You can buy this in a liquid form at the health food store or natural food section in Superstore and add one teaspoon to one litre of water and drink it at least once a day.

2) Chlorella - A blue-green algae that's rich in chlorophyll, magnesium, B vitamins, protein, iron, zinc and more. Add a tablespoon of this to any smoothie for a nice rich green colour.

3) Spirulina - A blue-green algae that's rich in chlorophyll, magnesium, B vitamins, protein, iron, zinc and more. Add a teaspoon to a smoothie or water.

4) Spinach - Popeye, the old school cartoon character, got his strength from spinach and that's because it is rich in many vitamins and minerals and protein.

5) Kale - Kale is one of our favourite greens to eat! Throw a couple of leaves into a

blender with other greens and fruit for a nutritious green smoothie, make it into a salad or steam it.

Now you know the benefits of green so it's time to join the green club and start eating, and especially drinking, green stuff. Once you start flushing your body with an abundance of green foods you will soon not be able to live without them!

Peas out,
