Gratitude Cafe, the first place we stop when visiting this cool beach town! The owner, Kristi Reich, has been serving up fresh, hand-made gluten-free and vegan fare for over seven years. She first opened her amazing restaurant in Calgary, Alberta where it was a favourite spot for many. In 2014, she decided she had enough of the big city and opened her doors eight hours away.

Gratitude's "I AM" menu series is a tantalizing and creative twist on a restaurant experience. You can feel the infusion of the "I AM" in every unique bite bestowed upon you.

Let's sink our teeth into the Pineapple Mushroom Burger Kristi calls, "I am Creating."

This sensation is served on a home-made, gluten-free bun that is soft and flavourful. Kristi calls it "the carrot bun of awesomeness," which is no exaggeration, it is the equivalent of the cherry on top of a sundae. There is nothing usual about this burger! The pineapple has you dreaming about the tropics, the minty green hummus and miso dressing add a fresh and light zest like sunshine on the beach. Healthy and tasty is a pairing this burger of wonder has under control, raw sauerkraut and homemade pickles, sprouts, cucumbers, greens, and the star of the show: roasted, marinated mushrooms.

From the very first bite you know that Kristi has poured her heart and soul into hand crafting every ounce to be the perfect blend of flavours. Let's just call this fine specimen what it is, I AM DELICIOUS!

Why you want this burger:

1. This burger is a fresh home-made vegan and gluten-free carrot bun that melts in your mouth on the first bite!

2. This quaint restaurant is well designed, clean and welcoming. We love the atmosphere of this place. Kristi's passion for food and giving her customers a unique experience shows as soon as you walk through the door. Many people, including the Veggie Burger Babes, travel hours to stop in to eat.

3. The marinated mushroom on this burger is a delicious rendition of a traditional burger patty. The flavour is light, and cool, and the fresh mint green pesto makes it the perfect burger to enjoy in the summer sun.

4. The price of this beautiful creation is $17 and worth every penny!

Craving something other than a burger? You are at the right place. Look no further than their menu for other amazing, homemade vegan and gluten-free dishes to satisfy your palette.
